Class of the Week: Rasmussen Pistoleer

Though we've yet to encounter (at least openly) a Rasmussen Pistoleer, I thought it might be a nice change of pace compared to our other recent Classes of the Week. As the people of Theah move into new times and the end of the 17th Century continues to draw near, the old ways are being pushed out in favor of the new.

Nowhere is this more evident then in the Vendel region, and perhaps the Rasmussen School is a product of that change. While one does not have to be a Vendel to practice the techniques, one should be a rather dexterous individual with an above average wisdom.

It's relatively easy to begin training in the school; any low level warrior, rogue or even a noble could begin. Students begin to specialize in their pistol immediately and gain an intimate understanding of all varieties of firearms to boot.

No one is safe from the Rasmussen Pistoleer. Their point blank shot, as well as their increased range allows them to cover the field entirely with equal results. Masters of the school rely on their wits and wisdom to increase their accuracy and to deal more damage.

But perhaps one of the most unique features of the profession is the Rasmussen's ability to fire reflexively, threatening all within a 15' radius. Any foes leaving themselves open to an attack of opportunity will find themselves on the wrong end of a pistol - not as a melee attack, but as an actual shot. This is a rare feature indeed and should not be taken lightly by others.

Members of the Swordsman's Guild do not mix well with the Rasmussen - best to be as far away as possible when these rivals decide to settle their differences. It is said that Cardican's Persistence Black should very much like to see this trend of pistols replacing blades. But she'd likely say the same of barrels would that they were used in dueling and she were a cooper.
